This new golf club near Castro Marim
in the east of the Algarve, and offers full facilities for every
golfer.
Opened in June 2001 Castro Marim
has breathtaking Mountain, Sea and River view's. From the first
tee it looks as if the fairway is impossible to hit, being only
30 meters wide but due to the natural contours any ball hit left
or right runs back to the centre of the fairway. With an elevated
approach to the green this hole deserves it's stroke 4 indexing.
The par 5 4th with it's elevated
tee and dog left fairway is a hole to think about before the drive,
the lake is very derivable and the elevated green is well protected.
A good 5 iron leaves you with a reasonable short iron to this elevated
green, but take care with bunker and small pine trees surrounding
the green your second needs to be well hit. Most of the holes on
this course are very deceptive and need thinking about, the eleventh
is one to bear in mind. A par 4 measuring 323 meters, with a small
lake guarding the green and reachable with your 3 wood, a good
long iron shot leaves you with a wedge to the green and hopefully
a par if not birdie.
The 13th is a par 3, with yet another
elevated tee looking down to this green it looks as if you can
take a 9 iron but take heed of the wind it is very deceptive. This
13th green is also well protected with bunkers and a lake to the
rear, a very challenging hole.
Course designer Terry Murrey, has
used the natural layout of the surrounding terrain to good use.
Lakes and bunkers along with trees situated in the centre of some
of the fairways keep you thinking. This we feel is a course to
try on your golfing trip, but keep in mind we do recommenced
buggies... Which can be pre-book when booking your round.
